Is Amy Winehouse the biggest legend of this generation???
Amy Winehouse released music that could be considered classic upon first listen, and her breakthrough with 2007's Back to Black (for which she won the Grammy Awards for Record and Song of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for "Rehab," Best Pop Vocal Album for Back to Black, and Best New Artist) was bigger than any other this century. The album sold 3 million copies in the United States and is also the second best-selling album of the millennium in the UK (After Adele's 21) with 3.6 million copies sold there.
She undoubtedly paved the way for other British singers that followed, like Leona Lewis, Adele, and Duffy.
Her retro image is iconic and other singers have channeled it - from Lady Gaga to Lana Del Rey.
With classics like this in her repertoire:
Is the late Amy Winehouse the biggest legend of this generation???
One of the biggest. Her impact on the music scene was and remains incredible.
And before anyone comes and says she became overrated after her death: absolutely not.
She was just underrated before her death.
It's crazy how dying, especially at a young age changes people's opinion of you. Just a couple of years ago, ppl were calling her a junkie, druggie and all kinds of **** online. And no suddenly everyone loves her. Mad.
There isn't an artist in this past decade that I would say was more influential. Some people would say Lady GaGa, and I would agree, but GaGa herself has even acknowledged some influence from Ms. Winehouse.
If she was alive this thread wouldn't be made so nope.

Only haters said those things. When 19 and 21 were released, I clearly saw Amy's influence and most critics did too.
