I changed my perception of bisexuals after one of my close friend's called me threatening to commit suicide because of how bisexuals are perceived by everyone. He was very confused with liking both sexes, had experiences with women and was coming to terms with "gay culture" and everything that comes with it. It put everything into perspective to me. And good news is that I managed to talk him out of killing himself. It was the first time I truly felt for bisexuals and their issues/lives.

He was obviously in a dark place because I just slept with his ex boyfriend and he chose to call me. I'll never forget it.

I would say I haven't seen it much while I have been here but in the LGBT community there is a lot of bi-erasure.

Its based on what most bi people do in relationships. Many straights and gays have it rough with bis.Especially on the monogamy aspect and lying. Also bi people are different.Some lean more to the gay side,other straight,some 50/50.Some shift after years naturally from one side to the other.Problem i have with some BIs is they think,just because your attracted to both genders, it gives them the license to cheat during a relationship. Not forgetting some male bisexuals carry lots of homophobia,where the female is valued over the guy. (Men for sex,women more of lovers and serious relationship)

I do think it has a lot to do with "bi" being used as the gays' stepping stone across the river to queendom. However, I've decided to trust whoever says they're bi (or any sexuality, actually) because it's obviously not my sexuality, and I can't tell them how they truly feel.

I personally didn't find it offensive when people were mocking Jessie J's "swinging behaviour" (among others, not just her) or whatever you would call it. But that's life for some bisexual people, and I just found it frankly ignorant that a forum with a large number of LGT could be so narrow-minded about bisexuals. Perhaps sometimes people were joking, but it's not funny.

We're expected in this day and age to understand transsexuals, drag queens and other members of our society yet atrl found it perfectly acceptable to degrade a group of people and insinuate that bisexuality does not exist and bisexual men (whom were spoken of) are lying to themselves, clinging onto their heterosexuality and refuse to embrace their homosexuality.

It couldn't be any further from the truth.

it's confusing. gay people are prosecuted by others who deem their sexuality as a choice. they have to defend themselves over these accusations and know what the struggle is like. and they demand everyone believe them (rightfully so).. so why is it so difficult for some to do the same to bisexuality? why call it ********, or say it's disgusting? it makes no sense to me.

Idk, on ATRL and in general it's really idiotic and backwards to assume that someone can't like both genders, it doesn't make ANY sense when you think about it. Like, if you can like one gender or the other, why wouldn't you be able to like both? Literally so dumb
