Stop saying the 'new Meryl' like she's replaceable. Anyone who has truly watched and dissected Meryl's performances knows that she is unmatched. Her performance in The Iron Lady was uncanny and no other actress could have pulled it off quite like she did.

While it is definitely a hyperbole to call her the new Streep, Chastain is one of the best, most versatile actresses working today. Watching her in Crimson Peak a week ago or so, her ability to transform is out of this world; she stole the movie.

While I don't necessarily agree with her being the new Streep (no one is) I can see why the comparison was made.

YEESSS BEY ADMIRED! Literally the greatest performance by any actor ever, across all mediums of performance. The absolute best performance of all time, bar none.

The comparison has been around since her breakout year in 2011, and the main reason is that her style of acting is very similar to that of the pre-millennium Meryl, and many experienced critics and film scholars spotted that immediately, which is why Jessica has been so well-respected for an actress who's only been around for a few years. It takes a special kind of talent to pull off that particular school of acting, and believe me, there are not that many of them out there. Certainly not Jennifer Lawrence, who's a great talent in her own right, but bears no resemblance to Meryl whatsoever.

Well, she, like Meryl, broke into film at an older than normal age and has been nailing it with almost every single performance, having multiple Academy Award nominations, and several successful blockbusters under her name and she hasn't even been around that long yet.

Have you even seen any of Meryl's early work? You might be the only self-proclaimed Meryl fan in history who's ever brought up that piece of hammy mess as the testament to Meryl's irreplaceability. Easily one of the most basic performances of her career.

Nah. She's a great actress though.
