Why do people hate Pop Avril Lavigne?
Why does "The Best Damn Thing" get a lot of hate? it's one of my favorite Avril albums "Hot", "Innocence", " When You're Gone" are my favorite songs from her.
I prefer it over her last 2 albums

Lack of any soul/passion, feels sell-outey

When You're Gone >>>>>> Goodbye Lullaby
What the Hell is one of the most awful lead singles ever

I love all her albums. She's very consistent. I frequently go through those days when all I listen to are Avril Lavigne songs. They're all so good. Her bridges slay.

And What the Hell is a Best Damn Thing reject, thank God she moved away from that sound and into an album of meaningful ballads

It doesn't come off as sell-out-ish to me because it feels genuine. It's also her catchiest album by a long shot.
The Best Damn Thing > Under My Skin > Avril Lavigne > Goodbye Lullaby > Let Go
Let Go has some of her best songs, but it's so overrated.

because she was known best for her acclaimed alternative debut album. She basically sold out with TBDT and it's a total 180 in terms of quality (although I do like it). Under My Skin deserves more recognition and praise tbh it's her best album. Rock Avril is the best

What The Hell was NOT The Best Damn Thing reject. In fact, What The Hell was added to the album last minute. Avril stated she finished the album in early 2010, and was forced by her label to record 4 Max Martin songs as a compromise so the label would fund the album. The album was further delayed due to Avril and label being in conflict over the lead single, with label winning out. Avril stated in her press release something on lines of "Please don't judge album off this song, it sounds totally different". Irregardless, What The Hell is a great Max Martin track, and was released to critical acclaim.

You literally just described what I said. Best Damn Thing reject. It would not be out of place on that album at all
I like the song too, it's fun. But it's obviously out of place on GL and was basically done to have a song like those on TBDT on there

I suppose we have different views on this artiste.
Yes, Goodbye Lullaby has some great, pleasant ballads, but I think it's all a bit too much for the length of an album. I think the music on The Best Damn Thing is a lot more engaging for the listener, but to each his own.

Under My Skin is a cheap amateur mess at times. Some of the songs are gold, but it lacks lyrical quality, and the production is awful at times. Nothing compared to her debut Let Go. Goodbye Lullaby is her best album after Let Go imo, and UMS follows after that due to the raw, honest feel of it. Avril's vocals even lack at times on UMS. However, the great parts of UMS are some of the best in her career. How Does it Feel is a lost classic. I cannot believe that song wasn't the 2nd I'm With You. The label ****ed up not releasing it!

I can agree to that.
And I just find GL to be incredibly mellow and pleasant and personal, which I love. TBDT is fun, but kinda generic. Tons of pop girls do albums like that

No, I didn't say what you said. A reject would imply it was recorded in 2006 for TBDT, rejected on final tracklisting, and added to Goodbye Lullaby. Not the case. It was recorded in May 2010 after the album was finished, as the label didn't feel any of the other songs on the album were good enough to lead the album into release. Two different things buddy. Plus WTH is a great song, and the label were right to release it as a single, but I think it should have been released as a 2nd single, two weeks before album release, with Everybody Hurts being released as the 1st single.

Most of TBDT still has guitars, and is far from today's traditional pop. Even Girlfriend has a strong guitar leading the song, sounds nothing like today's pop.
She never really lost her sound IMO.
What The Hell is probably the most she got into pure pop.
