Disclaimer - I would put this in blogs but

Anyway, my friend and I were planning a trip to Los Angeles / Hollywood area and the hotels are way too expensive.

Any advice on where to stay in the LA area?

We were thinking possibly Santa Monica / Venice area preferably under 150$ a night.

ALSO - any suggestions on sight-seeing or places to go or explore to make this informative for everyone?

palms and encino are lovely areas / some of the safest parts of LA so consider those as well
