Why do people deny Janet is a legend?

A lot of people have no idea who she is or her legacy. To be honest I didn't know who she was until 1 year ago and that is because I was watching Michael's videos and she popped up.
I understand that one person doesn't determinate whether someone is a legend or not but her music is pretty forgotten if you look at her streams, views and recurrent airplay. I don't think teenagers and young people can name any of her songs.. and some people don't even know her at all.
She is indeed a legend because of her influence, but not on the same level asf Madonna, Michael, The Beatles etc.

I like her but I don't think she's spoken about in the UK. I literally know her from the Nutty Professor film

Another thing: y'all (mostly Britney stans) seem to think that the more media coverage you get= the bigger of a legend you are. Media coverage makes you a tabloid darling at best and tabloid fodder at worst. It has absolutely little to do with legendary status, except for the fact that the media can be manipulative and write whatever they want and rewrite and erase history, which then leads to y'all saying stupid things like "Janet isn't a legend, because EYE haven't seen/heard/felt/smelled/tasted...".
The amount of times people refer to hack sources to support their bogus statements on here is incredible. Literally referring to people who are just as ignorant and biased, people who know how to write, but not how to critique what they write or analyze things in their proper context. All in the name of "receipts" and stan points. I mean....

BET classics? Absolutely
In the real world (especially WW) people don't know Janitor, let alone her songs.

ATRL is a strange paradox where Beyonce and Britney Spears are undeniable legends, but the artist that directly influenced them isn't.
I don't think it's age, because even if you're young and aren't familiar with her body of work, you research and learn. Not just with Janet, but any legend in music (especially older acts).
It's not because she's not "global", because again, a simple Google search of her touring receipts will show you just how big she was in areas outside of the US in her prime.
I think it's just "cool" within this forum to deny Janet's impact. Mostly by stans of certain artists that don't want their favs seen as "influenced"/"inspired" by Janet..

Cool! What you hear and don't hear on the radio doesn't decide whether a song is a classic or not.

Okay for arguments sake lets say you guys are right and she is 'Local'
That still isn't a good enough reason considering other famous legends were 'local' like Elvis Presley, Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin, Joni Mitchell, & Janis Joplin

You worry about Lana Snore Rey and that funeral music of hers still being a thing 5 years from now, let alone 30.

It's simply because they're uneducated and only listen to mediocre acts that are out today.

By definition, they were. The majority of their sales came from one country.

I know, but I find it weird that I never hear Janet's song on the radios or at classic stations when I hear Like A Prayer , Billie Jean, Hey Jude , Bohemian Rhapsody and many other songs from artists who are often regarded as legends, just that.
