You people have absolutely no idea of the importance of being able to study any new species of animals, plants, insects, etc. There's no possible way of obtaining as much useful data from an alive specimen rather than using a dead one.

This is the most effective way towards saving an endangered or unknown species. In the end, everything obtained from research is going to be directed towards understanding more about the specimens behavior and conservation of that species.

And my opinion to this question "Is the death of one to save numerous others ethical?"
Of course it's ethical, if it meant finding a cure for a major illness or preserving a near extinction species of birds.

For every new animal found, there has to be at least one specimen registered for future reference. However, I too believe that it would've been more useful to them if they kept him alive.
