It's okay to criticize religion. But it is wrong to do so disrespectfully. Religious beliefs carry along with them strong emotions. Offering your opinion on the subject is perfectly fine. Just remember to do so in a respectful manner. A lot of religions actually allow for and encourage academic, internal and higher criticisms. Criticism of religion is extremely necessary. The only way we can test the truth value of various religious beliefs is to open them up to public scrutiny. Anyone who sees criticism of their beliefs as "rude" is showing a lack of interest in having well-founded beliefs. That mentality doesn't deserve respect. But I don't approve of mockery and ridicule of religion. People making fun of other people's beliefs and culture with no valuable criticism only make themselves look like idiots.

Absolutely, all ideas should be up for discussion. There's a way to do it without ad hominem attacks though, we should be focusing on the actual concepts within religion and that sometimes gets forgotten.
