It only seems like an underperformance when you compare it to the BJ era, which was a flat out bomb in every way. Before that, Femme Fatale's album sales were considered weak. It wasn't platinum in the states and hadn't crossed 2m worldwide at a time where literally every pop girl was slaying. She had 2 #1 singles, one that debuted with 411k, the biggest radio impressions and the most top tens of her career, and still debuted with the second lowest first week sales of her career at the time. The ERA overall was successful, I'm not debating that. But the album itself was seen as a flop.

It wasn't a bomb.
Please know what platinum stands for per RIAA.
the album was certified platinum like it's predecessor but sold less...doesn't make it a flop.
An album garnering no hits, and no certifications is a flop...Britney Jean not femme fatale.

nope. do you really think it's her father's choice for her to limit her promotion? I think her father would want her to promote and put out product as much as possible and not work at a more easy going pace....
