Beyonce performed "Single Ladies", because it was one of the huge "anthem" songs of last/this year, and because it will win Video of the Year. It makes sense to perform her most recognizable song to date on one of the grandest stages of the year.
Lady Gaga shouldn't even be in the same sentence as "legend". Some people are seriously getting ahead of themselves with the fascination of Ms. Costume Woman.
