Has it happened for AHS before that views increased after a first episode? I know that Freak show was a steady decline but I don't know about the other seasons. Would be amazing if the good press after it airing draw some more audience.

It was diabolus ex machina. They needed a way for the girl not to escape, because if she did the first thing she would do is go to police, and that can't happen. So The Countess is there right as the girl leaves to kill her and keep the Hotel secrets still a secret. I doubt The Countess appearing out of nowhere is a superpower.

It was said from the beginning of season 4 that it was last season of Jessica. Why you all telling about Jessica playling Gaga's role? Ryan knew that Jessica won't come back so he created role for actress he got, wich was Gaga. he wrote that role for Gaga and no one else. if he knew that Jessica would be in season 5 he would create different roles and probably slighlty different story for whole season
