Album thoughts
Artwork-10/10. The album concept of "Confident" is executed perfectly in the album artwork
Confident-1/10 Absolute trash. One of the worst singles that any major singer has released in recent years. It is the definition of trying way too much to exude a certain attitude that it comes off as forced, desperate, and cringy. Not only is it terrible, but its the song that leads off the album...how unfortunate will it be when people preview the album on spotify and itunes and THATS the first song they hear?! Would be a total turn off for me if I was a casual listener.
Cool for the Summer-9/10 A euphoric chorus that is great in production and vocals. This hit was a great way to reintroduce Demi. For me it underperformed based on my views that it could have easily been a top 5 song.
Old Ways- 7.5/10 A lazy chorus with a vocally stunning and lyrically stunning verse/prechorus combination.
For You-8/10 For you, I would do anything for you

Kind of cheesy, but I like the loud production and stadium-like vocals. Euphoric and uplifting sound.
Stone Cold- 9.5/10 I actually prefer the "live" studio version over the album version, but you can really feel the emotions in the way she slurs the words some of the words together and she has some of her signature vocals (as well as a mix of Xtina and Dope Lady Gaga vocals, which I appreciate). Demi never disappoints with her ballads.
Kingdom Come- 6/10 Eh, I need to hear the whole song and think about it some more. Maybe it will grow on me.
Waitin For You- 5/10 Once again not impressed and I dont see this one growing on me either. Also not feeling the feature.
Wildfire- 9/10 Finally! I thought the middle section of the album was going to slump into 6s and 7s, but Wildfire delivers after a couple of snoozeworthy songs. Demi exudes confidence, sexiness, and everything that we want from her. The vocals are heavenly and she brings a softness that isnt heard in many of the other "shouty" songs.
Lionheart- 8/10 A nice harshness is brought after the soft Wildfire. This mid-tempo ballad isn't as good as Stone Cold, but its a keeper.
Yes- 3/10 I went into listening this song thinking it was going to be a cheesy mess. I was right. No on yes.
Father-6.5/10 I can appreciate the message and think its a nice song, but I don't think it is one I am going to listen to on repeat any time soon.
Stars-2/10 Wow. I thought the chorus was a generic Kesha mess, and then the breakdown came on. It tries to do too much. The instrumentation in the prechorus is nice, but thats about it. You really dont need to press play on Stars tonight
Mr. Hughes- 7/10 A fun little bop, but a weird way to close the album. Demi uses the "snapping" motif once again in the instrumental, which is one that is present throughout the whole album. It doesn't really sound like it belongs on the album, but still not a bad track.
Overall rating-6.32 (including album artwork)=63%
I think a 63% is a fair critique of this album that ultimately falls into a slump in the middle and at the end of the album.
