Quote:
Bruno Mars is venturing into (television) producing, teaming with Empire executive producer Brian Grazer for a single-camera family comedy with music elements, which has landed at NBC with a put pilot commitment.
Written by Prentice Penny (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), the comedy follows a loud, boisterous, and quarrelsome family from the Bronx and what happens when they take in their wide-eyed, hopelessly optimistic 10 year old nephew.
Mars was introduced to Penny who has had a life-long passion for music, and the two came up with the concept for a comedy featuring a family band.

But is the concept even original or...
Bruno and his manager Brandon Creed will executive produce along with
Prentice Penny and Imagine Entertainment's Brian Grazer. The series pilot is not autobiographical but will contain elements of Mars' life growing up in a family of musicians. The pilot is a lock to air with the network feeling bullish about picking up the series.
The news comes on the heels of an earlier announcement that Nicki will also executive produce and appear in her own autobiographical series on ABC family. This should be interesting if the two shows end up competing at the same time slot.
