Yes, of course. She is not a vampire.
She kidnaps Holden in daylight.

why did sally let one of the swedish girls go?

Yeah it's working out really well for now... The ensemble cast I think made the loss of Jessica become seamless, I don't think I'd want to see her in this season, I mean Sarah is really shinning through this season, Matt is doing wonderful, Kathy is getting better material, and of course Gaga can bring her enigmatic presence to the show, Hotel is slaying anyone saying differently.
I still love, and adore Jessica, and I'd love to see her return, but I really don't think this season was for her, it went places I don't think Jessica would've liked to go. And the show needed to return to the horror otherwise it was going to become a soap opera.

I think the inspiration behind the Countess is not a vampire, but a succubus. Also, I think that the children are going to play an horrocrux type of role in this season. I can sort of see Gaga "dying" mid season and sacrificing the children being the only way to bring her back, and that will go in conflict with the Wes Bentley storyline.

it has everything AHS is about and what everybody loved about the first 2 seasons.
But then again, Asylum was also disliked when it aired.

Tbh, it didn't really feel AHS to me. Yes, there was gore, there was disturbing sexual stuff, over the top scenes and **** like that. But i don't know why, i just didn't get an AHS feeling from the premiere.
And this is coming from an AHS fanatic. Something seems a bit off. I'm keeping my hopes up that the rest of the season will deliver.
That opening scene was soo promising, the vibe was so dark, creepy, amazing horror atmosphere. I was getting 1408(the film) vibes which was amazing since its one of my favorite horror films.

Yes, it did feel different, I blame the lack of Jessica and the different feel.
Like, the characters were nice most of the time in the previous seasons, now everyone is a villain, except Chloe and Wes.
But it's a needed change, for sure. Just wait for more episodes.

Yeah, but in past seasons not every character appeared every episode and she can die in episode 9 and come back two episodes later and she still would have been a main character and a full season developed character.

I feel like this was a return to AHS. Coven felt like a spin off, and FS seemed like a watered down version of the show (moreso after the opening episode). Hotel put the show back into form for me and it really captured this sense of dread and darkness that I hadn't felt since Asylum.

Yeah, Jessica's absent really takes away from AHS. But this is the first episode without Lange, so its inevitable that we would feel the difference. The theme looks very promising for the season, i just hope Ryan doesn't loose himself in all the plots and delivers a cohesive story.

I agree. If Liz Taylor gets enough screen time he could be a fan favorite. The Countess and Liz are the only characters I can see becoming cult favorites. Everyone likes someone they can dress up as. I expect a lot of Countess' for Halloween this year. I remember seeing a lot of twisty last year.

Yes Asylum disappointing at first, but the season works best when viewed as a whole. It feels like a mini series. I am wondering if Hotel will play out the same.

I hope Ryan keeps the ensemble feel going though - it'd be easy for him to get carried away with Gaga signing on for longer, but the screen-time for everyone this episode was perfect, so he should keep it up.

Same. It's very rewatchable.
It reminds me of a David Lynch movie.

I think Sallys look is the only one that could really become a thing.
The Countess is not constistent enough with her looks.

I think most of the people disliking the first episode, either don't remember the previous season openers or watched all episodes at once (like me).
I mean if you compare this to MH opener MH opener leaves you with nothing literally Hotel is the perfect mixture of All previous seasons - mostly MH and Asylum.

Blonde hair, red lipstick bleached eyebrows and the glove. She's consistent. All you need is a night gown sexy lingerie

The previous seasons have the benefit of being complete. When FS premiered I thought it was going to be the best, yet as the episodes went on I saw it become a snooze fest and lost interest. Asylum didn't capture me, especially with Adam Levine being a guest star, orignallly but watching the season as a whole changed my perspective.
I love the season opener for Hotel but who knows what'll become of the season. I see a lot of potential here. It does remind of the first two seasons in that "nothing" really happens so that the seeds for upcoming disasters can come into play. Hoping Ryan can keep it together because I am not here for three consecutive messy seasons.
