Is Angelina Jolie famous not for her movie career?
All her good movies were released in late 90s,ever since 00's she is starring in trash and flops like Lara Croft and Salt.She has like 2 successful movies last decade (Malificenta and Mr.and Mrs.Smith).
She was never really as acclaimed as her peers.Her last Oscar/Golden Globe nominations were ages ago while Sandra/Julia/Nicole are still slaying critics.
It seems she is more famous for adopting kids/being Bred Pitt's wife/for being famous but not for her roles.
She's famous for her movie career, she just has an extremely huge amount of starpower which makes her seem larger than life. Not your average movie star.
I would say its 30% her movies, 70% her personal life and looks. Most of her admiration and fanfare comes from the latter. She is bigger than her roles. More of a movie star than a film actress... There is kinda a difference.

The only good movies I saw with her in it was Wanted and Mr. & Mrs. Smith. I hated The Tourist and Salt lol. Maleficent was okay but it didn't really showcase her acting or anything...
No. Just because she doesn't act in a lot of movies doesn't mean she's not famous for her acting. In what little she has acted in shows what great of an actor she is and I'd rather have that than the worst actor jumping on every script available. She's exclusive and that's what makes her more precious than other actors who play in more movies than she does.
