In the US only and prior to windows 10. Everything post win7 has been a mess but let's see how these figures prevail year round now that surface 4 and Windows 10 are in the horizon.

No one is going to buy the Surface book with that ugly hinge are they?
I'm enjoying my macbook pro, but I wouldn't take these numbers too seriously. Just spend a day in the corporate world and it's over 90% windows. Each pc will be running some version of windows with an enterprise license, so wouldn't count for these stats (consumer retail channel).
There are four pc's in this house.
2 x laptops with enterprise license
1 desktop running linux
1 desktop running an academic/student edition of windows (not retail).

It's still the most current information
US sales in tech are usually inline with WW as US sales are more than 50% of the market
ydy tho

How is the latest information stale tea? You didn't even know about it.
It's all PC fans can say, because it's an embarrassing that 3 laptops outsold the entire laptop industry, raising more revenue, in the US. And as people keep avoiding like the plague, the US has over 50% of the market share.
It's not stale it's embarrassing that for the last 5 years, PC sales have been going down and Mac sales going up.

I admit I was wrong about sales (Mac sales VS the entire industry) but I am not wrong about Apple selling more than PC brands. Macs are not the most expensive computers out there. Just because they are expensive, doesn't mean they are worth more revenue than the whole industry.
Macs still have to be selling the same or more, to be able to compete with the entire PC industry. People are still giving Apple more money for Macs, and buying enough of them, that Apple don't need to sell as many, but still are selling more than any single brand of PC.
Thinking about it, one brand beating the entire industry. Which means Apple was still the best brand last quarter, which means Apple wins isn't an empty statement, and that's why I don't have to prove they sold the most. They just win regardless of the fact. They clearly sold more than any PC brand, and rose more revenue than the PC market. They are still the best seller.

And everyone all being like "oh Windows 10 will change everything!!!11111" Windows 10 has made underwhelming impact so far.
Windows 10's second month sees sluggish growth in market share
I mean, Windows 10 has only 6% of the Windows market and it's FREE 54% of users are still using Windows 7. Meanwhile, most Apple users jumped to Yosemite and Mavericks.
This statrment alone is embarrasing;

XP should be a non-factor at this point, and a free upgrade should have passed it.

No shade to anyone but who wants to spend 2000 dollars on a laptop. Even if they are the best and long lasting it's too expensive. Windows are what 300, 400 bucks and last long enough without any problems if you get a good model. My Alienware has lasted me a good four years and still going strong with no problems.

Alienware is not $400 and is rougly the same price as Apple, even more expensive in some cases
What are you meaning sis?
And $400 laptops that are good specs don't last, it's common knowledge. You either get a cheap laptop with okay specs for everyday stuff, or you buy a cheap laptop with good specs that dies the day after your warranty expires.

Macs are an otherworldly experience.
So glad America got it right!
And it's yet another reason why marketshare means nothing. Selling one $2500 maxed out MacBook Pro > selling FIVE $200 Acer laptops running W8.1 (yuck)

I'm not talking about the Alienware being 400 dollars, i'm saying that if you get a good Windows model it's 300 to 400 bucks. The newer Alienware models are expensive but mine was 600 new and basically does the same thing as a mac.. So not saying spending 2000 dollars on a computer is bad just that it's expensive for a computer.

It's expensive, but Macs weren't also 2000 a few years ago. Everything has gone up.
A 600 dollar laptop 4 years ago, is equivalent to 800 - 1000 today.
I got the most expensive model of this:
for $800 in 2008 (maybe May 2009 now thinking back). No way would Apple sell it for that now. It would probably be $1300 for the basic version.
$400 laptops nowadays are lucky to come with a dual core processor

Yeah pretty much but if you are lucky to come across a good model, many exist that are good for general browsing and you can always replace parts. Acer models are really good.

Why y'all tryna pass this off as a BTW*-esque achievement?
This is great for apple and does mean something. What do the sales trends for desktops and WW look like?

$2000? Um, NO! I bought my first macbook at $800 (US Dollars) and probably could've gotten $100 cheaper had I done it with my student discount at the time. I literally will never touch a PC again unless it's at my workplace and even there, we're integrating iMacs gradually. Naturally they rather spend as few dollars as possible for work computers and DELL usually gives corporate business top of the line deals for their products. Though the durability, from my personal experience of Macs vs PCs, is not even a contest.
My cousin's macbook is almost 10 years old and she still uses it out of choice, instead of upgrading to a newer model. My first macbook is 5 years old and that sucker is still operating at a high performance level and can get the job done easily. Thing is, when you splurge into purchases of that amount, you expect that to last. The amount of money I spent on two PC's my first two years in college, would've bought me an macbook, iPod, and a laptop bag. They offset one another. Not to mention, there are PC's that cost just as much as a Mac would.

Like i said my post wasn't saying Windows computers are better then the Macbook (I think depending on what Windows model you get both are good) however the Retina display model is $2,499.00 and even with what you are getting it's expensive. The cheapest model is $1,299.00
