Whats on social media is open to pretty much anyone so if you're going to say ****, one person may go to the extent of letting the employer know. One thing I don't agree with is the death threats etc, however I do think some form of consequence for these commenters is not really out of the picture.

That's what bothers me. I agree it's dumb to post stuff like this on social media. But people are contacting people's bosses not b/c of something they did as an employee, but something that did in their personal lives. How far are people going to go with this? Calling the boss b/c someone is a bully? A drunk driver? An adulterer?
An employee's outside of work actions shouldn't directly reflect on the employer. Unless the employee is being racist while providing you bad customer service, what difference does it make?
