It's fine until people start crying about their rights being stomped on because they can't stomp on other people's rights (ex. People thinking gays getting married is actively suppressing their religious freedoms.)

There are also concepts like:

• democracy is not tyranny of the majority
• my freedom ends where your freedom begins

Trying to impose their religion in laws, smells like the state-approved religion. If they fully understand what that means, they wouldn't like it. It's easy for them to think that what they want, is the majority and will be a convenient fact of life. However if another christian faction or faction of another religion is the majority, it means conversion.

Religious freedom is the reason why the world is so much more peaceful than it used to be. You would never want to go back to a time when nations used to enforce a state religion and all other faiths were supressed and persecuted like in the Middle Ages or when all religions were totally banned like in the Soviet Union. It was an absolute nightmare. Separation of church and state and secularism solved nearly all the problems both of theocracy and state atheism. I don't think there's any other better solution.

No. Parental rights takes precedence over the child's right to freedom of religion until the child is old enough to make choices and decisions for himself. Religious education or indoctrination of children by their parents as you imply it does not violate the principle of freedom of religion.

Once they're adults, it's too late. The 'freedom to choose' after years of indoctrination is a load of rubbish.
