At the halfway point of this year, it was reported 2015 was down 4% to 116.1 million albums from 2014's 120.9m. That was July, so I'm not sure where it is now but assuming it's still near a 5m gap, 25 could sell a ton of units through the Holiday to turn this year from a negative to positive, which would be good and "rescue sluggish sales" as the article states the industry hopes for.
She'll likely have a huge opening, maintain it through Black Friday and sensational boosts during Christmas and serve an early Susan Boyle tea for the year in just a few weeks. With additional sales from 1D/Bieber and any other potential high profile releases, it's possible for an increase from a slow year with 25 being the main factor.
21 did the same for 2011/2012, so that's why there's hope her follow up sees similar early results (at least).
