Xtina's the last songbird supreme: Jermaine Dupri
Jermaine Dupri (Mariah Carey's producer) said Christina is the last pop songbird -
Quote:
We have to let songbirds into this world. I don’t know the last time I’ve heard somebody say “songbird,” Christina Aguilera maybe. When her album first came out she was compared to Mariah, people were saying she’s a songbird, but I haven’t really seen any, especially not urban [artists], in a long time.

It really is a shame, we don't have that extravagant, larger-than-life, big-voiced female artist these days with monstrous ballads.

It's true! Christina Aguilera and Beyonce are the last of a dying breed of powerhouse singers.

Is Bey considered a songbird? Sorry I'm not too familiar with the term, but I assume it means a girl with a powerful voice.
Could Bruno could be considered a male songbird? What about Gaga? Ariana?
The days of people making full-on official power ballad albums are probably over for the near future, so...

There are plenty of vocally-talented musicians around (Bey, Gaga, etc). That statement is so dramatic.
Just because they are not interested in making huge vocal ballads doesn't mean songbirds are "gone". They are perfectly capable of making them, too.

Songbird rebirth unearth creature
Submerged from pain hurt broken pieces
To the sky I rise spread my wings and fly
Her voice is so beautiful even with it's imperfections, it's just that tone that get's better with age.

bitch please, adele's range is nowhere near a songbird considering any tenor male with a decent register could sing her songs ... what she has is a beautiful tone and emotion...
and no ! none of the above has impacted the world like the ones he mentioned vocally wise... I don't see the masses saying "omg have you heard ariana, jessie j, lady gaga's vocals?" only the kids who visit ATRL not all generations like they did with whitney, mariah, Xtina and Celine, who I guess he didn't mentioned because he was pressed
