Why are you Swifties not reading the thread title. It doesn't say 'did Kanye give Taylor a platinum album'. It says did he make her famous enough to be a household name, and he clearly did

Fist of all, I'm not a Swifty. What I am is a thinking person, and no matter how I feel about T.S., I and others have given multiple, factual reasons to refute the thread title. And speaking of thread titles, I already refuted that. Keep up.

Because the statement posed in the OP says, "Kanye made Taylor a household name" and regardless of whether or not the controversy raised her Q rating, she was already a household name before Kanye disrespected her at the VMA's. So no, Kanye did not make her a household name. She already was one.

First it was, Oh, Taylor was only "moderately successful" until Kanye, which was proven wrong because she had her hits and the best selling album that year even before 2009 VMA's.
Then, it was Taylor was a niche act with a "specific demo" . . . because Rolling Stone gives covers to niche country acts that have no mainstream appeal, MTV hands out VMA noms to country acts on the regular, and those country acts have fan blocks big enough to win their faves moon-men

.
Now, it's time to move the goal posts again, I see
