It took me less than a day to get used to it. The only thing that literally took me a day or two was the scrolling is the opposite way (which can be changed) to Windows

i struggled with that too. now that i'm used to it i struggle using the windows pc at work.

it also took me a while to realize that the edit/etc buttons were in the taskbar

I've updated it since I keep reading that El Capitan provides a better performance, but I haven't noticed any difference here.

Definitely noticed that my mac is a bit more responsive, even though mine is pretty new.

My RMBP is so much faster now. Only issue is that Office 2016 is crippled, but that's Microsoft's fault

Is it worth updating my iMac?

Also unrelated, but could anyone tell me if Apple Care is worth the money? It's coming up to a year since I got my iMac so I need to decided whether to get it or not.

Yeah, you should probably upgrade.

Also yes, Apple Care is worth it since things always go wrong with your computer after you've owned it for a while. I myself have it.

Also there are just SO many inconsistencies with their "support" people who you can talk to on chat. I am having trouble with the Mail application & they are all so ****ing useless.
