The Hot 100. Considering she's a North American artist, she should at least be able to chart. And I know that any Spanish song charting on the Hot 100 is an incredible accomplishment, but "Macarena" and "La Bamba" are examples of crappy Spanish crossovers hitting #1. Nelly's new stuff might be boring, but it ***** all over those two tracks.
Mexico is part of North America, a lot of Mexicans have been #1 on that chart, so Nelly Furtado didn't make any history besides, US artists like Jennifer Lopez and Selena have been #1 before with original spanish songs
Marc Anthony, Jennifer Lopez and Selena are considered latin people even if they born in US just because they have latin descent. J.LO mother is Puerto Rican, Marc Anthony has Puerto Rican descent, and Selena's family were from Mexican-American. Another example is Mariah and Christina. Nelly only has portuguese descent and of course she's not considered latin.

I know, they were trying to say that Nelly is the first non-hispanic artist to go #1, but they incorrectly used north american instead which is not true, that's my only concern, I'm not hating on her
OMG!! this thread is a ****ing mess , there are people so ignorant that doesn't know that Mexico is part of NORTH-AMERICA and the article is wrong... she's not the first north-american artist to hit #1 ...
anyway...
Congrats to Nelly
She's one of the greatest and talented artist of the Decade!!
