That's the free market and the advantage of being an entrepreneur.
The market or we all value entertainers more than the other professions. Look at ourselves when we are in "feeding frenzy mode" on Ticketmaster.
Working under a boss will never make as much money as being a boss. The role of a boss is receiving as much as possible money from the customers and throwing a bone once in a while to the employees.
- Some artists/bands work like employees, selling millions albums, touring arenas/stadiums and still sees the bosses run with 90+% of the revenue away and are barely better paid than a plumber in the US.
- Some are building empires and can start making demands for rights 10 years later.
- Some have the rights since day 1 and let the label touch only a tiny portion of her revenue.
In the end it depends on their contracting.
