I don't belong to any camp but from what I gathered the achievement of SQ was that the episode added a lot of views over those three days (80% of the premiere). While Empire is the much much bigger show it did not add that many views in relation to its premiere.
Sure, its premiere was so huge that the comparison does not make that much sense but still I would not drag SQ into this. That show really did very well outside the live airing.
