The era is overrated as well. The new image is what ppl were buying, not as much as the music. Whereas with, say the important eras Control & RN1814, there was a healthy balance of everything that complemented the album.
I did Escapade at karaoke and I can't ever show my face in public again but it was well worth it.
I remember listening to that song when I was like 8 and dancing around my house like the little gay I was after I saw it on VH1. and thinking she was singing about a Cadillac Escalade.
