There are many people going for nursing since the course is easier. The significance of the job is definitely not basic but most people can be a nurse lbr.

People major in nursing because its a booming field. There are more open positions for nurses than there are qualified people to fill them.
That article is BS. English, History and Language graduates are by far the biggest pool of candidates picked to have training contracts (at least in Europe) - the transferable skills you learn from those degrees are actually an asset whereas science degrees are not.
If anything that article shows how useless natural science degrees are if you don't plan to go into research (who would want to inflict themselves the pain of research work anyway?)
well i guess it's different from the UK considering at high school we learn content that you americans learn at the first/second year of your university
theology students getting higher scores than english/history students?
Lmao wtf. Nursing isn't basic. They take extremely hard units + over time (with experience) they can do certain procedures like normal child birth/physiotherapy etc that the avg practitioner has no time for. They're like the (human) face of Medicine.

Political Science/Psychology/Sociology are the basic majors.
are you serious? Who on earth goes into nursing "for the money"? They don't get paid much at all. My mom has been a nurse for over 30 years and is capped out at around $55/hour.

55 an hour is not bad at all. Nurses earn more than say, teachers. At least in North America.
I feel like everyone goes into this major for job security, and then they end up hating their jobs which leads to healthcare abuse and poor servce. So many people I talk to are going for this and every time I hear it, I go.
I work at a hospital so I see firsthand how miserable and unsatisfied some of these nurses are.
YES!!!

Nursing is the most "basic" in the sense that people just major in it for the money, so what he is saying is true. I noticed this as well. Most people who major in it end up regretting it and never really had interest in the field outside of the money.
Right. It's not bad, but it is more than most nurses make (my mom has more education).
My point is if someone is choosing a major based on money, nursing is way down on the list.
Not all of those high-paying jobs are booming. There is a need for nurses and it doesn't seem like that much of a competitive field. Nursing is an important field, but it's also a field where you have a ton of people who are not mentally fit for it. They are just there because there is a need for nurses and the money is good.

Exactly. Its not only the money, but demand and stability.
History, English, and Philosophy are the three best majors for getting into Law School.
Surething . . .
I'm confused, in which phase ppl follow a major? It isn't the same as a bachelor degree? Because in Europe we can choose to do law school right away after high school...
