I think knives are scarier than guns in real life. You literally have to jab and jab and jab to kill someone.

Guns don't create much gore compared to knives and other sharp objects. Tbh, the less advanced a weapon is, the more effort to kill someone. That all means more gore, more time, more intense.

Knives require for the killer to be up close and personal, which is more frightening compared to someone pulling a trigger and having their victim die faster and usually instantly. The act of having to stab over and over is brutal and more effective.

There are horror movies where the killer shoots their victims though. It's just not the preferred method in comparison to household tools.

We're shown from a young age that bullet wounds aren't as serious or damaging as stabbings (in video games and TV shows).

its because for someone to actually force a knife into someone else's flesh is seen as absolutely disgusting and terrifying.
it means you are dealing with a complete mad man/woman.
whilst with gun users, they shoot from a distance and it takes one good shot to kill someone almost instantaneously.

you can sort of "accidentally" kill with a gun too but you can NEVER accidentally kill someone with a knife. knife killings require force, time,energy and pre meditation.

Because people get shot/killed so frequently in movies that we've become desensitised to it. James Bond can shoot and kill 60 men in a Bond movie and no one in the audience even thinks "wow...60 families lives have just been completely ruined forever."

Gun deaths are instant. So in movies, it's not scary, but in real life you're confronted with the possibility of dying at any second. Whereas knives in movies usually mean gore and a slow death, which is uncomfortable to watch and way scarier.

In America Guns are more important than people. Americans see guns as the good guys and people as something that need to be shot
