No ****ing duh, that's how these things work. Do you seriously think they'd dedicate an entire telecast to an artist without inking some sort of deal with said artist's management? Every "honor" like this is put together in collaboration between the publication/organization giving the award and the recipient's management team.

At the same time, though, the recipient STILL HAS TO BE WORTHY OF THE AWARD/HONOR in order to receive it. That's why you don't see random nobody's ever receiving awards like this, it's always big-name artists who actually have power and dominance.
