I think Pope Francis is making the church progress a lot in terms of their views on the LGBT community. With him being so influential across the world, I'm glad that he is addressing these issues as shown here ->

"A person once asked me, in a provocative manner, if I approved of homosexuality. I replied with another question: ‘Tell me: when God looks at a gay person, does he endorse the existence of this person with love, or reject and condemn this person?’ We must always consider the person. Here we enter into the mystery of the human being."
His answer when asked by America Magazine as shown above was amazing in my honest opinion. I personally think he is really changing the course in making the LGBT community more accepted in this world. It might be just a small step to some, but it is certainly a huge one in my opinion.
