DJ White Shadow Wikipedia controversy

Born this Way (song) Controversy and ArtPop Aftermath
Blair, best known for his work on the self-proclaimed punk rock star[29] Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta (also known as Doris, the Germ or Good Ole Gags)'s cover of Madonna's hit single Express Yourself, was exposed as a fraud and plagiarist[30][31] by critics after the world discovered that the obvious cover was actually marketed by Germanotta, Blair and her team as an original single over which Blair claimed full writing credits [32] together with the late Alexander McQueen, who Germanotta claimed wrote the song postmortem[33] on her behalf, and for which the pair failed to pay the original producers of the song the royalties they were legally entitled to receive. Blair, for fear of reprisal and being exposed as a plagiarist, stated the following:
"What I was saying is that the song is not a tribute or a rip-off or whatever. The similarities between the two songs are so small that I thought it was ridiculous to see that people were making such a big deal out of it, especially when the song Express Yourself is an exact rip of Respect Yourself by The Staple Sisters; and even more so because I thought Born This Way was too important of a song to have some silly controversy attached to it."[34]
Madonna, despite being advised by her legal advisers to take swift legal action against the obvious plagiarism, simply responded to the situation by stating that Germanotta and her cover "feels reductive." Reductive, a word that had mostly gone unused in the English language has since seen a massive resurrection,[35] further solidifying Madonna's iconic status within modern pop culture. Furthermore, as an attempt to put this matter to rest, Madonna sang Born this Way at every date of her massively successful The MDNA World Tour[36][37] the same year Germanotta cancelled her disappointing Born this Way Ball Tour[38][39] due to an undisclosed cosmetic surgery procedure. However, this move went mostly unnoticed due to the fact that fans and critics alike failed to realize that Madonna had even performed Born this Way in the first place and accidentally mistook the cover as new lyrics. Neither Ms. Germanotta nor Mr. Blair filed any charges against Madonna for failing to credit either writer in the The MDNA Tour DVD credits[40] or for failing to pay the respective royalties that would have otherwise been required under normal circumstances.
Subsequent to these allegations, which had already devastated his career as a cover artist, Blair went on to work full time on Germanotta's little known side project ArtPop. This project, which Blair stated was to be "the album of the century[41]" was described by Germanotta herself as "a reverse Warholian expedition,[42]" a statement that baffled critics and fans alike since it was void of any logical meaning and which most critics simple wrote off as being typical hipster artist nonsense. The album marked a dramatic decline[43] in Germanotta's short-lived career, and she has therefore decided to part ways with Dj White Shadow, officially marking the end of his career.[44] Germanotta has decided to instead focus her career on jazz covers since most jazz standards have recently lost their copyright and copyrights protecting this genre of music are much more lax and easier to get around.[45]
