Say if scientists found some trace of life, microbes or whatever in the water that they found on Mars, what would the news mean to you? How do you think it would impact the world? What would it mean for major religions that claim that life is unique to Earth?

We would set up a base to study the new technology etc. which would be destroyed by Cerberus when the Reapers invade Earth because the Elusive Man wanted the information stored there.

Christians will doubt the Bible and many won't believe in God anymore.

There would be a complete chaos.

That said, not to be all "conspiracy theory!!11" but I don't think the NASA or the government or something would let us regular people ever find out if they discovered actual life on another planet.

They already have discovered life elsewhere, only slowly beginning to reveal the evidence to the masses.

I believe this too. While revealing the 'evidence for water currently flowing on Mars' yesterday, it became clearer to me. With all our advanced technology, you really wonder how is it that we're making such a discovery now. I think that NASA / the government hides a lot of things from us and slowly reveal them to us in a way to prepare our mindset for something bigger.

Hopefully it would unite the world. Pooling all of our funds towards space exploration instead of war.

Which religions claim this?

The Bible says nothing about aliens at all. Christians are free to believe in them or not as they see fit. It is not a fundamental belief of their religion and has no moral implications (unlike the existence of God) so whether they exist or not makes no difference to their faith.
