I invite every single one of you who think that Nursing is basic to spend a day with me at work.
Remember, there are people unsatisfied in every field. Not everyone works for the same reasons. But calling a profession like Nursing as basic is ridiculous.
Please. Many of the nurses at my job are lazy and mean as ****. They make the CNAs do everything. Not ALL nurses are like that of course, but its easy to do because techinically all they do is hand out medicine.
Where do you come from?
I invite you to a field trip with me to ITU where I currently work
I wish the hardest thing we do was medication/drug rounds. That's the easy part of the job dear
And to state again: I HAVE NEVER SAID THAT NURSING IS EASY.
I'm saying that a lot people go into for the wrong reasons. You're obviously a hardowrking and educated nurse and I respect people like you. And yes, maybe my statement was idiotic and undeducated but it was something I wanted to get off of my chest. Thanks for the information, though because a lot of the stuff I was hearing were from friends and such.
Welp you can disregard my most recent post then as well as the first one because I believe I was quite disrespectful
It's just that you have NO idea the amount of **** we take from people on a daily basis. Doctors don't respect us & some patients are very quick to complain about things that are out of our control or forbidden (Patients wanting to smoke or eat whatever they want)
That's not counting those of use who work in Psychiatry where we have to do interviews EVERY SINGLE day and assess suicidal risk
As a nurse nothing angers me more than a lazy nurse because it's the patient that suffers so I completely see where you're coming from but we do A LOT. (Including mandatory overtime)
How can anyone say anything in the health care profession is basic. 12 hour days. Looking after the sick, the old, the young, and the dying. It's a taxing job that deserves more respect.
The View just had an episode about respecting nurses in America.

Yeah I totally get that, you're right. And I apologize again for my uneducated generalizations. The entire reason I created this thread was to make a point that just because something is stable and pays well, doesn't mean its for you. I wish more people would understand that, and maybe we would have more nurses like you and the others in this thread.
its not, but if youre ever a waiter/waitress and want good tips just tell your table that you are also going to nursing school People love to give big tips to potential nurses.
What the hell. Nursing is an incredibly important and difficult career, I can guarantee most people wouldn't last a full year as a nurse. One of the most basic majors for me is Political Science just because I swear every other person has majored in it at one point in time and I really don't know why
