Sure, Taylor Swift has had more sales than her but Lady Gaga in her peak was massive and she was in a league of her own. Electro/dance pop was sort of getting popular around her debut, but she's the one that really cemented it into the pop landscape. It was because of her that other popstars decided to think outside the box and be "weird", but still, nobody did it better than her. She's definitely had her slump and is gonna kind of need to reinvent herself this next era if she wants to go back to the top again, but I think she's definitely capable. She really influenced a lot of today's popstars whether they'll ever admit it (they probably won't) or not. It's very evident.

2010 is the decade we're in now though, it's prone to change, I think having someone like Katy Perry or Rihanna would've been a safer bet as they've demonstrated longevity and have great influence over the industry. Congrats to Gaga I guess but I can see the picture changing to Katy if LG5 flops.
