So I've been thinking... what if ATRL had open registrations forever? Would the quality of the forum decrease or increase? Most online forums have open registrations and without Admin approval - so ATRL being the opposite of this makes this place exclusive. But what if registrations were open to the public - would we see a shift in the community for better or worse? When ATRL upgrades the server, would you be here for this happening?
We saw a spike jump when registrations were opened briefly this summer, but once we transfer over to the new servers I think we're good to keep them open forever. What say you?
I feel like since registrations only open once in a while, the people that join are usually long time lurkers, who are familiar with the culture of the site. If registrations are always open, then anyone can join. Also, more people would be making troll accounts and dupes.
This is why I said when we migrate to the new servers.

I agree. I can understand why we don't have them open now, because of server traffic - but once we've fixed that issue.. I don't see why we can't have them open forever.
We could still keep it admin approval, but it might be a nice shift in the community.
As member who has been guest for so long time, I would have said yes weeks ago, but now since I've became a member I perfectly see and understand why it would be a messy (trolls, double accounts, ecc.)
