Asians are rarely taken seriously (especially in the US) when it comes to anything outside of academia due to stereotypes and that's a FACT.

It's mainly racism. Many J/K-Pop acts have more talent than these pasty heifers trying to sing and good ol' Murica loves these dry rhythmless harlots wailing on autotune. I'm over it and hope CL can be the start to bringing more international diversity to the US market.

Like... Ailee deserves to smash here. Her label got her stuck in this sad B'Day forever image when some US producers could hook her up with some bops. Could give many of these chicks a run for their money.

I legit believe it's coming next year. CL, Namie, Priyanka, Utada, Ailee... One of these females have the goods to smash. As for men, hell, CNBLUE and FTISLAND give Maroon 5 a run for their money, and the numerous boy bands there are? One of them have to outshine 1D somehow.

Many people still think of this country as a binary, as if only two skin colors/ethnicities exist. It took DECADES for Black entertainers to be on the same level (they still aren't.)

Your "excuses" are pure victim blaming - it is unconscious/systemic racism that has kept Asians completely separate from American popular music. No other reason.

no one's really tried or had the right music

i'm still confident SNSD could've broken through back in 2012 when they released The Boys/started working on an english album...the song got 2 US talk show performances and then they just gave up, and it was never picked up by radio or anything so it didn't really have a chance at success. same thing happened with BoA and Utada's english albums. Wonder Girls also sort of tried but they were never gonna make it here anyway, they're not edgy enough and their english music was weak
2NE1 also started working on an english crossover but nothing ever came of that unfortunately. I have faith they could've smashed with the right push
