1989 is an exquisite pop album, very acclaimed, praised by everyone, extremely successful and possibly an album that will be remembered as one of the best from this decade. I don't see it either .Maybe kats think some songs sound similar?
1989 is like lesser and minimalist version of the Phenomenon Teenage Dream so pretending 1989 is Katy Album is like we're reliving TD's Phenomenon but in mediocre form
Because according to you guys Taylor is destroying Katy in her own field, so make up your minds. These kind of threads make y'all seem psychotic/bipolar, no offense.
People on this site don't listen to much music. They have very few reference points to compare albums to.
That said they do have the same goals and both strive for the same general vibe, if not overall sound. They also both feature a lot of work with Max Martin.
I think people might just be trying find something to chalk 1989's general inferiority to, and the cliche that "sequels are never as good as the original" is a fitting enough explanation for them.
