My worst issue in these is I never know if I should submit a good score I got, or try again for a better score. Or if I've already scored more points then other contestants. I just don't know. I suck at decisions like this.

Just keep a screenshot of your highest score, and keep trying until an hour or so before the deadline, then submit your highest. That way you aren't constantly resubmitting scores.
