Cookie Lyon (Taraji P. Henson) called 50 Cent “thirsty” on Wednesday’s Empire, and 50 Cent is not pleased — so much so that he expressed his disappointment in a series of Instagram posts mocking the Fox show.
“Can’t believe Cookie would say some s— like that about me,” he says in the first video. “Thirsty? Me? Thirsty? Come on.”
His next post is a meme that reads “F— EMPIRE, TELL EM’ WE SAID,” and the final one is another video. This one, though, features 50 Cent pretending to be a director on Empire.
The rapper has ragged on Empire before, comparing it the Starz show titled Power on which he has a recurring role and serves as executive producer. His most recent diss was in June, when he Instagrammed a photo of his Power character with the caption, “EMPIRE is some s— you should get for free. Now that power is worth paying for, STARZ premium cable.”
I think he is just annoyed that Power (the show he produces/stars in) isn't getting the media attention of Empire. He has complained about this before. I like both shows though. They are not really similar thematically. Empire is a show about people running a music label. Power is a show about drug dealers.
At least he is still relevent enough and famous enough to get referenced on Empire. Some people cannot even get that.
