I don't think she said the song was meant to be a buzz single. What I understand from that interview is that when she was recording the album she and her team didn't think GFY was going to be the first single but when she finished the album and thought about what kind of 'comeback' or new image she wanted to show she decided to release GFY because it is sexy, confident, soft and different from all her previous singles.
