As for the hype... The Fray's sophome album had a lot of buzz. You Found Me was pretty big - it is, after all, a 2X Platinum digital single and a Top 10 Hot 100 hit. It made the album debut at #1 and sell big. It's Gold now. If their 2nd single failed, it's another story. IMO, they waited too long to release a follow-up to YFM, that's the problem.

I think "You Found Me" was a sleeper hit. I guess I'm surprised that their album went Gold and that's good for them but until they have another "How to Save a Life" I don't see any platinum in their future. I agree that they waited too long. That's what OR is better at--marketing. When "Apologize" was peaking they came out with "Stop and Stare" and they were on the radio constantly. At least that's what I remember so correct me if I'm wrong.
I'd say 'You Found Me' was a sleeper because it was released too early. I mean, it was on Lost's promo video in the first days of November, and the album didn't come until 3 months later. They promoted in November, forgot about it and got back to it in February. I totally agree with you, their marketing is awful.
I'd love to have another 'How To Save A Life', and I also doubt they're gonna get it any time soon. But so isn't OneRepublic getting another 'Apologize'. I'd say they will be lucky to get another 'Stop And Stare' and that's all.
On the other hand, I guess The Fray had two equally successful mainstream hits - Over My Head and How To Save A Life - and one that got pretty close - You Found Me. All three were more successful AND more popular than Stop And Stare, which was technically OneRepublic's 1st official single, since 'Apologize' was tagged as 'Timbaland feat. OneRepublic'.

Ok, SIS. You may not know The Fray, and although I HIGHLY doubt that, I don't care. But facts are FACTS: The Fray is more successful than OneRepublic. Since real world is not ATRL, sales are tied to popularity. Therefore The Fray can't be less known than OneRepublic when their debut album has sold over 2 million against OneRepublic's 700k. Deal with it and stop acting out.
