In 2013, this fearlessness prompted her to step away from 2NE1, one of Korea’s biggest girl bands, with her solo track The Baddest Female, a clattering ego massage that channelled Atlanta hip-hop. A year later, she signed with Justin Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun, the man responsible for breaking Gangnam Style,
while a chiefly English-language and globally distributed album will follow her forthcoming EP on Diplo’s Mad Decent label.
