they don't seem to promote really except for the first week of album release then nothing more

Because they didn't release the music video the first week
All their albums have gone #1 (and the next one will do that too) and they are massive at touring so I don't think they are worried about it.

Sometimes it takes a while to get a #1 to other artists, for example Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber, so maybe they will get a #1 with their comeback in a couple of years

Because their team doesn't play their cards right when it comes to releasing first singles. Drag Me Down could have done it. But it got the same problem as Problem

Stans care about number one singles, record labels don't.

Look at the type of artists who have multiple number ones and fewer album and tour grosses. They earn less and gross less for the label. They're making LESS money, and as they should be for a product retailed at 1.29.

Meanwhile those with less number ones and more album sales and higher tour grosses are some of the top earning artists in the industry, grossing hundreds of millions of dollars.

I'll never understand how logic fails stans when so much time is devoted to the charts.

Gaga, Bey, Madonna = how many number ones in the last 15 years?

Rih, Katy, Taylor = how many number ones in the last 15 years?

I think you'll find tier one has earned more money spending more time on stage than the Hot 100.

Because they're a frontloaded artist. Most if not all of their success comes from their massive stanbase. They fade quickly after week 1.

This is very false cause Katy is currently slaying on tour and Taylor just started getting #1s like 2 or 3 years ago and is also slaying on tour.

Y'all keep saying "they came so close with BSE/DMD" but could you imagine how tragic a chart run like #1-#27 would be? They can't hold up in their second weeks. Like many have said, it was to do with their radio support being pretty tepid outside of Story of My Life and WMYB.
