Actually you can teach a college bachelor's degree in Canada with only a Masters, which you can attain for one year.
So you can pretty much start teaching when you're in your late 20s... PhD's is nice, but Masters is more than sufficient to make you $100,000+ as a professor in my college..
After 4 years of degree program, a year of masters, and maybe 5 years of field experience, you can be a professor early in your career.
In my college at least, field expertise outweights years and years of PhD theorems and whatnot. So I don't get why you're so upset.
