For me even though I would love to be fluent in another language I was only taking courses for graduation so I never bothered to learn the accent or tried to emulate it because as a southerner it would have been a tragic mess.

Unless you plan on speaking that language on a regular basis and intend on having a career involving that language I don't think its a necessary thing to add in the accent.

Unless you spend time in that country living there, being surrounded by the language and native speakers every day, it's gonna be very hard to get rid of your accent and sound natural.

I'm trying to learn 'British" accent, but I think I just mix American and British one all the time because I watch a lot of american tv shows and youtube, but it's better than no accent I guess. And I think that I sound like just too much sometimes

Everyone in my class didn't understand what I was talking in english, but teachers always wanted to talk with me and was surprised how good I'm talking, so I guess it's not that bad.

It's just like when foreign people learn English, they speak with a foreign accent.

It's really hard for English and French speakers to pick up accents. Their pronunciation makes it hard for them to speak other languages. While, for example, an Albanian or a Greek can learn Italian or Spanish and sound exactly like an Italian or a Spaniard.
