Is it? overall, the main idea of the UN is essential, but if you look at conflicts around the world:
Is the UN currently playing a key role in the Iranian nuclear issue?
Is the UN resolving what is happening right now in Syria? *Genocide takes place there*

My main point is - in almost every major conflict zones around the world, the UN isn't at the forefront of providing a solution.

I think it is mainly due to its composition. The UN is a parliamentary body, but administered by states with dictators, tyrants, and non-democratic states.

just in case you don't know:
- Out 193 UN member states, only 87 are democracies
- When Saudi Arabia tried to run in Human Rights Council Election in 2013, 82 countries out of 95 have praised the decision (it was convenient for them to forget that at the same year 53 christians were arrested because they were praying in a private home) and I'm not even talking about public beheading that they had done to many homosexuals.

The UN is a useless organization that is backed by money from the major powers.

Basically anyone can join it, there are little to no requirements. It's become pretty useless.

the UN security council calls the shot (in theory), it consists of

France
UK
Russia
China

since 2 very undemocratic countries are in it, the security council is useless. when there is a war, one of those always seeks the opportunity to gain influence from it. So the others cannot do **** about it.

the security council should exist of 10 permanent members:

GER
Japan
Brazil
India
Australia

and they should find decide on resolutions by majority voting. the veto voting system is rigged.

The UN told the Netherlands to end Black Pete racial sterotypes. So in my opinion they are relevant.

The reason why Germany, Japan are not included is because they lost the war. India is not included is because they were a colony when the UN was established. Austria was also a colony.

The security Council is based on politics. They won world War 2 and still do have a major influence on politics although France should not be there since they lost in a few weeks and are much weaker than Germany today.

It doesn't really matter anyway since if there is a war the UN won't do a damn thing.
