He's going after America's foreign policy, which pretty much EVERYONE agrees is an utter disaster from... well, every perspective there can possibly be. He's also going hard on illegal immigrants and how they need to come in legally, which is a really hot topic. These are issues that need change, and he's the only one who's really talking about changing them.
What gets the support more is that no one is really making valid points against his policies, the media just talks about how much Trump sucks as a person. They're welcome too, but it does get a little transparent and doesn't do anything to sway Americans that are agreeing with some of the points he's making.
On top of that, him saying what's on his mind creates an image that he's a lot more real than, say, Hilary Clinton. The American people think they know what they're getting. It's a well thought out strategy, and the media's treatment of him causes him to come out looking good while making said media seem petty and biased in comparison.
If you need a media example, let's take his Heidi Klum comment about her not being a 10. It's kind of a rude thing to say, but it has absolutely nothing to do with his policies at all. But the media is running stories like this to drag him instead of ACTUALLY dragging his policies. It doesn't really work since.. well.. at the end of the day, what Trump thinks of Heidi Klum is pretty irrelevant to the kind of president he would be.
