Do you put one space or two spaces after a period when typing?

I was always taught two spaces, but I've noticed a lot of people doing only one space here.

The reason for the two spaces was because of typewriters and their monospaced font.


With the space between the letters bigger than it is now, typewritists used two spaces to distinguish sentences from each other more easily.

APA style recently updated to say 2 spaces are better than 1

I think it's technically two, but it drives me nuts when I see it and I still voted for one.

One, like I was taught to. Didn't know two spaces were even a thing I learn something new/weird on ATRL every week it seems. Like people pronouncing "kworb" as "k-worb"

One. Only people who were raised on typewriters use two.

APA writing says two is better than one as well.
