I think the people Pokémon Go appeals to won't care what other people think. I'm one of those people. I don't need validation from others to have fun. If someone else doesn't get it, I'll keep being my dorky self regardless.

My guess is that this was the original Pokemon go trailer but they didn't know how people would react so they did it as an April fools joke just to get feed back before continuing development
