I've never heard of a fem woman being looked down upon EVER. As far as a man goes some people do that but usually it's people that no one wants anyway.

I understand not being attracted to fem guys, but to use it as an insult is just no.

Why is this restricted to gay men? Straight men and women, as well as lesbians, have a less than perfect track record with feminity. In Western society, men and women are masculine and feminine respectively, anything else challenges the status quo. We live in a patricarchal society where the masculine man is powerful, and the feminine woman is weak and fragile. Straight mothers and fathers will tell their son to man up at the sign of weakness. This we know.

Why are gay men embarrassed by feminine men? Because feminine men draw attention to their sexuality. A lot of gay men are not used to being seen as a visible miniortity, you know one you can identify by looking at him. Some gay men just want to be "normal" and bask in a sea of masculine guys who no one would ever suspect were gay. For some it is the desire to assimilate into straight culture that makes feminine gay men unappealing. "If we act straight then maybe the straight people won't hate us, look at pride, an embarrassment" - said the self loathing queen. It's sad, but I underagand where some of these gay men might be coming from after growing up in a world where (re-read the first paragraph).

Not true. I come in here make a few jokes and controversial statements once in a while but I am far from being fem, no-one even knows I listen to a few of the pop girls and I spend most of my free time on my playstation or rugby.
I have no problem with fem dudes, as long as they aren't part of my squad, exaggerate gestures in my face, walk like they are on a catwalk **** that girls don't even do and snap their fingers in a z motion and say girl every other word (Omg that crates me to the core).

I know I know you are going yo say we all Gay blah blah and we all hated and stuff. But I'm entitled to my own preferences right? It's simple when I want to hook up with a dude I go for a dude. If I feel like I want a woman. That's what I go for. So I'm not going to be going for an in-between. Its just me.

There was a thread here a few days ago calling out gay people for "wanting to stick out" and not be equal by having a "gay community", so I think some people want to be and associate only with people who will never stick out from what a man is supposed to be according to society.

(I know that this thread is just about gay men, but the title still bothers me. Femininity is a different issue in the different parts of the LGBT "communities".)

A lot of what's already been said is true. I also think in regards to minority's groups, there's a fair chunk of each that don't like those who perpetuate stereotypes of what that group of people are like as it makes it harder for people to recognize that there is more to that one section than the stereotypes of flamboyancy for instance or "thugs" for black people or as "lazy" for Latinos(? I think. I'm not great with stereotypes but you get the gist right?). I think, idk, I'm too tired. I'll probably regret typing this when I wake up.

I don't think this is mainly due to misogyny. Femininity in a man is essentially different than femininity in a woman.
